This annual award, now in its sixth year, recognizes women who have made outstanding corporate contributions at the board level, in their communities, and in helping other women achieve full potential in the business world.

“Throughout Celeste Bottorff’s career, she has demonstrated her leadership skills by taking on new and challenging assignments across a wide range of industries – from her initial love for science as a physics major at Purdue University, to her position today leading CCNA’s reputation initiatives,” said Roxanne Douglas, President of BDN. “Ms. Bottorff personifies the professionalism, leadership and unique perspective that the Lettie Pate Whitehead Award recognizes.”

BDN and KPMG LLP present this award in honor of Mrs. Evans, who was appointed to the board of directors of The Coca-Cola Company in 1934, making her one of the first women to serve as a director of a major American corporation. She served on The Coca-Cola Company’s board for nearly 20 years.

“KPMG is proud to sponsor the Lettie Pate Whitehead Evans Award because of the spotlight it puts on equality for women in the board rooms across the country,” said Tim Bentsen, KPMG Office Managing Partner. Ms. Bottorff possesses all of the attributes that make up the foundation for this special award and we congratulate her.”

Ms. Bottorff serves on the Board of Directors at Caraustar Industries, serving on the company’s Audit and Compensation Committees.

“Since Celeste joined Caraustar’s board in 2003, she has always demonstrated passion, energy and exceptional intelligence. Most importantly, her attributes motivate others,” said Michael J. Keough, president and CEO of Caraustar.

Ms. Bottorff also serves as a member of the Board of Advisors for HireDynamics LLC, one of the country’s fastest-growing private firms. Ms. Bottorff sits on the Purdue University College of Science Dean's Leadership Council and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Cystic Fibrosis Reaching Out Foundation.

Ms. Bottorff began her marketing career as a marketing and technology strategist at McKinsey & Co. in 1983 after earning her Master’s degree from the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business.
