Robin Sangston
Robin Sangston is Vice President, Legal Affairs & Chief Compliance Officer for Cox Communications. She joined the company in 1995 as its fourth attorney. In 2000, she was promoted to Vice President and Assistant General Counsel. Currently, she is the Chief Legal Officer overseeing all of the operations of the Legal Affairs Department and the Chief Compliance Officer.
Prior to joining Cox Communications, Robin was an associate with the law firm of Dow, Lohnes in the Washington, D.C. office. There, she specialized in litigation involving media companies
Robin received her B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania where she was a member of the Mortar Board Honor Society. She received her J.D., with high honors, from George Washington University’s National Law Center. She was a member of the George Washington Law Review and Order of the Coif.
In 2004, Robin served as the national Chair of Women in Cable & Telecommunications, Inc. (“WICT”), a 10,000 plus member non-profit organization whose mission is to develop women leaders in the cable television industry. Prior to serving as Chair, she held numerous other leadership positions in the organization, including President of the Atlanta Chapter in 1999. In addition, Sangston is an alumna of Class 8 of the Betsy Magness Leadership Institute, WICT’s flagship.
In addition to her work with WICT, Robin has supported a number of other organizations and initiatives, including non-profit service on the board of the Minority Corporate Counsel Association, the Atlanta Chapter of Cable Positive, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising AIDS awareness and funding AIDS education, research and care, the Atlanta Ballet, the Atlanta Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, and the Atlanta Legal Diversity Consortium. She has participated in a variety of mentoring programs, including the Cox Mentoring Program, the Women’s Mentor Program of the J. Mack Robinson College of Business, Georgia State University, and the WICT mentoring program run by the Atlanta Chapter of WICT. Robin also served as the first Chair of Cox Communications’ Atlanta Diversity Council, which represents the over 2000 Cox employees at Cox’s Atlanta headquarters.
In 2004, Robin was the first recipient of the “Horizon Award for Woman to Watch” awarded by the Atlanta Chapter of WICT at its inaugural Red Letter Awards. Since 2005, Robin has been ranked in CableWorld Magazine’s Top 50 Most Influential Women in Cable issue. In 2006, Robin received WICT Inc.’s “Woman to Watch” Award at its annual Gala in Washington, D.C. In 2010, Robin was recognized by Counsel on Call as one of its first “Wonder Women” as part of its Wonder Woman Series. The mother of three is involved in a variety of community activities, including serving on the board of her neighborhood homeowner’s association and on the Sponsorship Committee for the Norcross High School Dugout Club.
